Delhi-Kathmandu to have 14 flights a week

KATHMANDU: The Nepal government has given permission to two airlines to increase the number of Kathmandu-New Delhi flights.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has given permission to Nepal Airlines Corporation and Air India to fly every day. This route will now have 14 flights a week.

Only the state-owned airlines of the two countries are currently flying to each other as per the bubble agreement between Nepal and India. The agreement does not mention allowing private companies to fly.

NEA Director General Rajan Pokharel informed that permission was given to increase the number of flights due to complaints of increased passenger pressure and high fares.

“The COVID-19 epidemic is also gradually subsiding. As all other areas have been loosened, it has been allowed to add more flights by following health standards,” Pokharel said.
