Constitution Amendment Task Force to submit report ‘soon’

KATHMANDU: The task force formed to prepare a discussion paper on constitutional amendment has said it will submit its report to the government by mid-July.

Task force coordinator Asim Shah, who also serves as Political Advisor to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, said the panel’s work has reached its final stage. Shah said the task force is finalising its report.

“The task force preparing the constitutional amendment discussion paper is carrying out its work. We plan to submit the report to the Prime Minister by mid-July,” he said.

Shah said the task force has consulted a wide range of stakeholders, constitutional experts and political parties as part of the drafting process.

“We have held discussions with various stakeholders, constitutional experts and political parties,” he said. He added that the task force has now entered the report-writing stage.

“We are now in the final stage of drafting the report, and we will make it public once it is ready,” Shah said.
