KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has installed life-size statues of four martyrs amid the commemoration of the Martyr’s Week.

On the third day on Wednesday under the Martyr’s Week, the life-size statues of martyrs Ganga Lal Shrestha and Dasharath Chand were unveiled in Kathmandu.

Statues of martyrs Dharma Bhakta Mathema and Shukra Raj Shastri have been installed at Sifal and Teku Machali of Kathmandu, respectively, last year.

Mahesh Tuladhar sculpted the statues.

The four had attained martyrdom in course of the movement for establishing democracy in Nepal in 1941.

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Bidya Sundar Shakya, unveiled the statues amid a function today.

On the occasion, he said that the martyrs’ life-size statues have been installed to remember for eternity the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for securing freedom and civic rights.
