Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll hits 887 with 11 new fatalities

KATHMANDU: A total of 11 people died of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Nepal.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the coronavirus death toll has reached 887 as of Wednesday afternoon with the new deaths.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 162,354 as of Wednesday afternoon after 1,954 persons tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

According to the Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Jageshwor altogether 8,248 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to Dr. Gautam, 2,981 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 121,824 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 75 percent, he added. Nepal currently has 39,643 active cases, he said.

Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 7,709 people are in institutional isolation and 31,934 others are in home isolation facilities.

Likewise, 2,889 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

Similarly, he said that 290 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 72 on ventilator support.
