Budget of Rs 90.69 billion appropriated for health



KATHMANDU: The government has increased budget in the health sector in the upcoming fiscal year.

Presenting the federal budget for the fiscal year 2020/21 at the federal parliament on Thursday, Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said the budget appropriation for health sector has been increased to Rs 90.69 billion.

He said the budget was allocated for ensuring access of all Nepalis to health service, enhancing quality health service, widening the coverage of health sector, developing and upgrading infrastructure for health sector, developing health human resource and preventing and controlling coronavirus.

While delivering the budget speech, the minister also shared that Nepal graduated to an open defecation-free nation.

The budget has arranged that the patients would easily get ambulance by dialing a definite number across the country.

The budget has also stipulated that an integrated umbrella Act would be introduced to operate all the hospitals in an integrated manner.

The minister further shared that the budget was earmarked to establish a center for disease control and to initiate works regarding the formation of National Health Academy.
