Govt allocates 1 bln to set up food bank



KATHMANDU: The government has planned to set up food storages in various places in the country.

Presenting the budget for the Fiscal Year 2020/21 in the parliament on Thursday, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said the government has allocated Rs 1 billion for establishing food storages across the country.

With the objective of eliminating food shortage in the country, the country will establish food storages and cold stores at the federal, provincial and local levels.

For this, a food bank will be established to successfully implement the program, said Minister Khatiwada.
