KATHMANDU: At the time when the KP Oli-led government has come under fire within the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), opposition parties have decided to wage protest against the government.
Opposition parties Nepali Congress (NC), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Monday decided to protest against the government arguing that it was heading on a path of totalitarianism.
“It is evident that the government is heading toward totalitarianism by breaching democratic values and norms. We strongly condemn the trend. All the democratic forces express commitment to protest against the arbitrary and totalitarianism trends,” reads the decision of the opposition parties.
The parties have also demanded that legal action be forwarded over the alleged abduction of Federal Parliament member Dr. Surendra Yadav.
The meeting held at NC headquarters in Sanepa was attended by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, leaders Ram Chandra Poudel and Bimalendra Nidhi, Mahanta Thakur, Baburam Bhattarai, Upendra Yadav and Rajendra Mahato from Janata Samajwadi Party and Prakash Chandra Lohani from RPP among others.
