Police deny to register complaint of ‘abduction’ against former IGP Khanal, NCP leaders

KATHMANDU: Leaders of erstwhile Samajbadi Party Nepal on Sunday reached the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kathmandu to lodge a police complaint against what has been alleged as ‘abduction’ of Dr Surendra Yadav, the party’s lawmaker and former State Minister.

Party leaders Dr Surendra Yadav, Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Upendra Yadav have reached Teku to lodge a police complaint alleging former Nepal Police IGP Sarbendra Khanal, and ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmakers Mahesh Basnet and Kisan Shrestha for ‘abducting’ Dr Yadav on Wednesday.

It should be noted that former IGP Khanal, leaders Basnet and Shrestha had brought Dr Yadav from Janakpur to Kathmandu in what the party has dubbed as ‘abduction’.

In Kathmandu, Dr Yadav was kept at the Naxal-based Kathmandu Marriott Hotel.

However, the police have denied to register the case and suggested the complainant to file the case in Mahottari, the district MP  Yadav hails from.
