KATHMANDU: Perhaps in his wooing attempt to the main opposition annoyed by two ordinances said to have targeted the opposition, Prime Minister KP Oli called Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of Nepali Congress for discussion on contemporary issues at his residence in Baluwatar today.

Friday’s meeting between the PM Oli and NC President Deuba is regarded as PM’s attempt to entice the main opposition party irritated by the ordinances introduced on Monday and repealed on Friday.

However, the meeting that was held between the incumbent PM Oli and the former PM Deuba had another surprise at the entry of Puspa Kamal Dahal, another Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party.

Dahal’s entry is interpreted as having a remarkable significance.

On the occasion, Deuba demanded with the Prime Minister to take action on those involved in the abduction-like incident of bringing Socialist Party leader Surendra Prasad Yadav from Terai to Kathmandu.

“Voices have been raised to take action on those bringing the leader in Kathmandu in the kidnap-like incident. It’s my demand too. A fair investigation into the incident and action against those guilty should be taken if the country follows rule of law,” Deuba told PM Oli, according to a press statement issued by NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.

According to PM’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa, the three senior leaders discussed thoroughly on the latest political development in the country and focused on the strengthening of the mutual understanding between the parties.

Alarmed at the ‘ill-intent’ of the ordinances the government introduced on Monday, the main opposition had reacted aggressively and had put pressure on the government to withdraw the ordinance instantly.

The ordinances criticized widely by the leaders of the ruling political party, the main opposition party, and civil society are already revoked by President Vidya Devi Bhandari on Friday.
