JANAKPUR: COVID-19 tests through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine have been halted at the Janakpur-based Provincial Public Health Laboratory.

A swab sample of a 14-year-old boy was tested at the laboratory. The report came negative for coronavirus. The sample was again tested at the Kathmandu-based Public Health Laboratory where it was confirmed that the boy was infected with the disease.

Following the incident, a decision was taken not to test samples at the lab over accuracy issues, according to In-charge Ram Binaya Sha.

According to him, the lab has tested 100 samples so far and all the reports were negative.
