KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is set to submit a proposal before the Council of Ministers to grant leave to the employees twice a week ‘to promote domestic tourism’.
A meeting of a high-level group Chaired by Minister Yogesh Bhattarai at the Ministry on Thursday decided to form a task force to prepare a proposal.
A committee has been formed under the coordination of Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Chief of Tourism Division Pradip Kumar Koirala, Chief of Tourism Department Rudra Singh Tamang and Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Dhananjay Regmi.
The committee also includes representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of General Administration.
The meeting also decided to prepare a protocol for opening a museum, Pashupati Temple, Lumbini and submit it to the COVID Crisis Management Center (CCMC).
The meeting also decided to submit flight agreements with Bangladesh, Indonesia, Russia, Korea and Finland to the Council of Ministers.
Similarly, the Ministry, Tourism Department and Tourism Board have jointly decided to make a joint program to make the revival program of the tourism sector effective and present it at the next meeting.
The meeting has directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal to review fuel surcharge and prepare a concrete proposal regarding airfare within a week.
Minister Bhattarai also directed the concerned divisional heads to monitor, evaluate and inspect the necessary facilitation on behalf of the Ministry for effective work of the projects of national pride.
