Nepalis waiting to come back home elated to hear about flights resumption



DOHA: Nepalis stranded in Gulf countries waiting impatiently to return home are elated to hear about the resumption of regular flights from October 1.

The Nepalis migrant laborers in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have expressed their delight through social media.

“We working in the Gulf countries are elated to hear that, though late, the government has decided to facilitate our home return,” Gajendra Hamal said, “Now, we expect the government to arrange for the tickets in an affordable rate.”

Similarly, Kedar Jogi from Sankhuwasabha, currently in Qatar, has written that the Nepalis stranded in foreign lands will get a chance to return home soon.

Deepak Ale from Saudi Arabia has wondered whether the flight cost would be adjusted to the normal days, yet has expressed happiness yet the idea that though a bit late, everyone will get a chance to go home.

Likewise, thousands of Nepalis feeling stranded in a strange land have lauded the government’s decision to resume international flights on regular basis.

Some of the aspiring home returnees have even criticized the decision of late one and have expressed sarcastically that the government opened the regular flights only after earning a lot via chartered flights.

To date, the flights are operated as per the flights scheduled for September.

The flights of narrow body and wide body of the Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines will resume the flights from Qatar as per the new flight schedules soon.

Similarly, Jazeera Airways will resume its flights from Kuwait, whereas Himalaya Airlines will continue its service from Riyad, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, the government had suspended the flights to and from Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia pointing out that the PCR test was not convenient in those countries.

Most of the lawmakers of Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumers Welfare Committee and the Nepali ambassadors in the Gulf countries, speaking in Monday’s virtual meeting of the committee, had advised the government to arrange for regular flights to facilitate the Nepalis stranded in the Gulf countries.

Around 40,000 Nepalis are waiting impatiently for home return from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
