Leopard census to begin in Tanahun

TANAHUN: The Division Forest Office, Tanahun, is set to count the number of leopards in the Bhanu Municipality of the district.

The cases of leopard attacks have sharply risen in recent times, therefore, the Office is preparing for the leopard census for the management of human-wildlife conflict.

According to the Chief of Office Kedar Baral, the counting of leopards will begin in this fiscal year.

The forest areas in the municipality have been surveyed for this task, he added.

Baral said that a total of 36 points have been fixed in almost 4,200 hectares of forest land.

Cameras would be installed in each point to facilitate the counting of the leopards.

Likewise, along with leopards, prey species of leopards would also be counted.
