1,356 diagnosed coronavirus positive, Nepal’s tally jumps to 66,632



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,356 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country in the past 24 hours.

The coronavirus tally has reached 66,632 with the fresh cases, Health Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Tuesday afternoon.

He added that the new cases were detected when 11,154 samples were tested in laboratories across the country.

Nepal has carried out 934,977 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests so far.

A total of 18,142 people are currently under isolation. Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 8,939 people are in home isolation and 9,193 in institutional isolation facilities.

Likewise, 7,771 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

According to Dr. Gautam, 823 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 48,061 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72 percent, he added.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said that 196 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 31 have been put on ventilator support.

According to the Ministry of Health, ten persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 16 in Province 2, 128 in Bagmati Province, five in Gandaki Province, 22 in Province 5 and 15 in Karnali Province.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam also said that one in Province 1, 28 in Bagmati and two in Province 5 are on the ventilator support.

Meanwhile, two persons lost their lives to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. The total death toll has reached 429 in the country.
