Leopard found dead in Baitadi



BAITADI: A leopard of around seven years has been found dead in Jyaphu forest area of Patan Municipality-8 of Baitadi district.

According to the Division Forest Office, Baitadi, the leopard is dead for nearly seven days for now.

“It might have died after being injured in the trap,” Keshav Parajuli, the Divisional Forest Officer of Division Forest Office Baitadi said, “ It will be brought to district forest office for investigation prior to taking it for burial.”

Similarly, the locals of Sigas Rural Mucicipality-2, Gaanjari have trapped the leopard that entered  the settlement and troubled the people there.

According to Baitadi Police sources, a team of people including the forest office official and Baitadi Police have gone to the place to ensure safety.

“As we don’t have enough manpower to take it under the control, we will see if we can send it back to jungle,” Narayan Prasad Adhikari, the Chief of Baitadi District Police said, “ as the arrival of the experts team to take the leopard into control may take longer time, our priority is to restore the wildlife back to its habitat safely.”
