Meeting of Prachanda-Nepal faction lawmakers begins at New Baneshwor

KATHMANDU:  The gathering of lawmakers of the disgruntled Prachanda-Nepal faction of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has started at the parliament building in New Baneshwor.

The meeting of the lawmakers of the now dissolved parliament is taking place at Lhotse Hall of the building.

NCP Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Nepal are scheduled to address the meeting.

Earlier, NCP Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a meeting with the lawmakers of his faction at Baluwatar this morning.

The Prachanda-Nepal faction is making preparations to revive the parliament by invoking special rights laid down in the Constitution, through judiciary and road demonstrations.

During the meeting with the lawmakers, Oli said even though the party unification between former CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) was held with a noble goal, it hit a snag due to the ill-intent of Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda.

He accused Prachanda of having an ill intent to capture power following the party unification.

Oli went on to say that he decided to dissolve the parliament and go for the mid-term elections after knowing the intension of Prachanda to become the Prime Minister by capturing power.

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa also held a meeting with Prachanda. He did not go attend the meeting called by Oli at Baluwatar this morning.

Prachanda had gone to coax Thapa at his official residence in Pulchowk, said NCP source.
