KATHMANDU: General Secretary of Nepali Congress, Dr. Shashank Koirala has lambasted President Bidya Devi Bhandari for nurturing royalists through her unethical and impractical handling of the post.
Speaking at a virtual program organized to mark 38th BP Memorial Day on Tuesday, Dr. Koirala said that the activities of the incumbent President are endangering the institution itself and nurturing the royalists making people believe that monarchy could fare better than this system.
“President Bhandari seems to act like the President of the ruling Nepal Communist Party rather than being the President of Nepal,” Dr. Koirala, the General Secretary of Nepali Congress said.
He pointed out that due to the biased activities of the President, people have started commenting that a king could have been more neutral than the President.
Speaking about the ongoing tug-of-war for the party President in the main opposition Nepali Congress, he assured that there would be a single candidate for the post of party chair from the camp outside Deuba panel.
Citing that it’s natural to wish to hold the post of party chair, Dr. Koirala reiterated the need of bringing all those outside the Deuba camp at a place for the party convention.
He added that the right path for the country is the path led by NC and propounded by late BP Koirala.
