1,010 Nepalis die of COVID-19 abroad; 171,000 infected



KATHMANDU: As many as 1,010 Nepalis have died from coronavirus in various countries abroad so far.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 727 people have died due to coronavirus infection in Nepal till Saturday.

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has stated that 283 Nepalis have died in 19 countries outside Nepal.

One more Nepali national died of covid-19 in Israel this week.

According to NRNA Health Committee Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota, Nepalis living in India, Qatar, Japan, South Korea and Cyprus have been infected with the pandemic this week.

According to the health committee, 42,100 Nepalis have been infected in 42 countries till Saturday evening. Of them, 38,646 have recovered from the pandemic virus. According to the Association, 91 percent of Nepalis infected abroad have recovered so far.

Similarly, Nepal has recorded 1,29,304 coronavirus infection cases, of which 89, 840 have recovered. The recovery rate stands at 69.5 percent in Nepal, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Likewise, 1,71,404 Nepalis living in various countries aborad have been infected while 1,28 486  have recovered from the virus.
