KATHMANDU: Seven more COVID-19 patients, including four in Kathmandu Valley, died in the last 24 hours.
Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated that the death toll from the pandemic has reached 390 with the new fatalities.
Five men and two women succumbed to the coronavirus.
Two men aged 66 years died in Morang, an 88-year-old man in Katmandu, an 82-year-old man in Bhaktapur and a 31-year-old man in Nawalparasi died of the coronavirus.
Likewise, an 85-year-old woman in Kathmandu and a 66-year-old woman in Lalitpur succumbed to the pandemic.
Nepal had recorded four coronavirus related deaths on Thursday.
An 87-year-old man in Kathmandu had died of the coronavirus, while women aged 64 years in Morang, 36 years in Chitwan and 57 years in Kailali had succumbed to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,020 people have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours in the highest single-day spike, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population.
The coronavirus tally has reached 61,593 with the fresh cases, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Friday afternoon.
He added that the new cases were detected when 11,458 samples were tested in laboratories across the country. Nepal has carried out 894,373 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests so far.
A total of 17,383 people are currently under isolation. Dr. Gautam stated that a total of people 8,088 are in home isolation and 9,295 in institutional isolation facilities.
Likewise, 7,736 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.
According to Dr. Gautam, 871 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 43,820 in the country.
Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 71.1 percent, he added.
