Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 115 after woman dies in Chitwan

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s death from COVID-19 has reached 115 on Tuesday night after an elderly woman who died in Chitwan has tested positive for the coronavirus.

According to District Health Office Chitwan Chief Deepak Tiwari, the coronavirus was confirmed after the death of a 108-year-old woman of Khairhani Municipality-3 in Chitwan.

The woman had died at her house on Monday night.

Her swab sample was collected after the death and the report came positive this evening, Tiwari told Khabarhub.

A total of 12 people have died of the coronavirus in Province 1, 47 in Province 2 and 20 in Bagmati Province, eight in Gandaki Province, 14 in Province 5, four in Karnali Province and eight in Sudurpaschim Province so far.

Nepal’s death toll from the coronavirus had reached 114 as of Tuesday afternoon after seven deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that one man each Kavre, Morang, Nawalparasi, Dhanusha, Banke and Kaski and one woman from Tanahun have died of the coronavirus.

Nepal had confirmed 1,016 new cases in the last 24 hours that had taken the national tally to 28,257.

Meanwhile, as many as 17,580 have recovered across the country so far. As many as 85 have been discharged from hospitals and isolation centers in the last 24 hours, he shared.
