COVID-19 Nepal: 641 test positive, 134 discharged in last 24 hrs

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday stated that 641 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the new cases have taken the national count to 26,660.

The new cases were detected in various districts including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Rupandehi, Bara, Parsa, Achcham, Rautahat, Rupandhei, Kaski, Tanahun, Mahottari, Makwanpur, Sunsari, Baglung, Kaski, Nawalparasi (East), Parbat, Tanahun, Dang, Rolpa, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Jhapa, Baridya and Lamjung, Chitwan, Morang, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Parsa, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusa, Kanchanpur, Jumla, Rukum (West), Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi (West).

Dr Gautam said that five districts, including Morang, Parsa, Mahottari, Rautahat and Kathmandu have reported more than 500 cases of coronavirus.

A total of 12,247 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method, he shared.

Meanwhile, as many as 17,335 have recovered across the country so far. As many as 134 have been discharged from hospitals and isolation centers in the last 24 hours, he shared.

At present, 9,221 people are in isolation and 15,243 are in various quarantine facilities.

Nepal has reported two new deaths. With this, the death toll has reached 104, he said.
