Indian leader Dr Singh terms PM Oli’s remarks on Ayodhya ‘unfortunate’

KATHMANDU: Dr Karan Singh, a senior leader of Indian Congress has termed Prime Minister KP Oli’s remarks on Ayodhya and Lord Ram as ‘mind-boggling’.

Issuing a statement today, Singh said that the PM Oli’s statement have hurt the sentiments of billions of Hindus living around the world.

The statement said that PM Oli’s remarks could have come as gymnastics of a distorted mind, except that it comes fast on the heels of Oli’s unfortunate unilateral action regarding territorial dispute with India.

Dr Singh has also expressed the worry that Prime Minister Oli was bent on widening the gap between the two friendly neighbors — Nepal and India.

“It would appear that he is trying to do whatever he can, even going to the extent of an absurd statement regarding Ayodhya and Sri  Ram, to widen the distance between Nepal and India,” the statement has said.

Indian leader Singh has also urged people of Nepal and India not to be swayed by PM Oli’s statements and continue to maintain friendly relations between the two countries.

It should be recalled that PM Oli had last week said Lord Ram’s birth-place Ayodhya was an artificial concept created by India.

PM oli’s remarks have drawn wide criticism both in Nepal and India.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has clarified that PM Oli’s remarks on the birthplace of Lord Ram are not linked to any political subject and have no intention at all to hurt the feeling and sentiment of anyone.
