KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two individuals on charges of defrauding people by promising lucrative foreign employment opportunities.
The accused have been identified as Pradeep Kumar Shrestha of Likhu, Okhaldhunga, and Kabita Belbase of Shivaraj, Kapilvastu.
According to police, Pradeep Kumar Shrestha allegedly collected Rs. 400,000 from a victim by promising to send them to Cambodia for employment. Similarly, Kabita Welbase is accused of taking Rs. 108,000 from another victim with the promise of sending them to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for work before going out of contact.
A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested the two suspects in Kathmandu. They have been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, for further investigation and legal action.
