KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai has challenged the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to form a public ombudsman to investigate major corruption scandals in the country.
Taking to Tweeter, former PM Bhattarai reiterated the need to probe major corruption scandals like the ones related with Budhi Gandkai Hydropwer Project, NCell’s Capital Gain Tax, Wide Body plane procurement, Security Printing Press, lease agreement with Yeti Group, the health materials procurement via Omni Group.
“I will readily cooperate,” he said.
He has expressed his belief that only the all powerful public ombudsman can probe into such issues.
Earlier, during his visit to home district Gorkha, Bhattarai had claimed that he has got an evidence of the bribery in Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project.
He had then alleged incumbent Prime Minister KP Oli, and former PM duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Sher Bahadur Deuba of taking Rs 9 billion as bribe.
Replying to Dr. Bhattarai, in a press release NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha had challenged Bhattarai to come out with the substantive evidence.
