Sindhupalchowk update: 11 bodies retrieved; 20 missing



SINDHUPALCHOWK: The dead bodies of 11 people who went missing in a landslide in Barhabise Municipality-7 of Sindhupalchowk have been retrieved as of Sunday evening.

According to Navaraj Neupane, Police Inspector at Area Police Office, bodies of seven women and four men were recovered today.

Nepali Army personnel, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and local people are still working on search and rescue operations in the disaster site.

As many as 22 houses of Nagpuje’s BK and Newar locality were damaged due to the landslides in the district.

According to Nimfunjo Sherpa, Chief of Barhabise Municipality, the landslide has completely damaged 30 houses, while 222 homes are at risk.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Agni Sapkota on Sunday visited the site and took stock of the situation there.

Likewise, Chief Minister of Bagmati State, Dormani Poudel, has expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives and property due to the landslide occurred in Sindhupalchowk.

Issuing a press release, CM Poudel urged people to involve in rescue and relief work, saying the natural disaster has given added much suffering to Sindupalchowk people again.
