Sherdhan Rai: UML will implement party leadership’s decision in Koshi

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Secretary Sherdhan Rai has said the party will implement the directives issued by its central leadership regarding the political situation in Koshi Province.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Rai, a former chief minister of Koshi Province, said the party was working in line with instructions from UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.

“The directives given by the central leadership will be implemented. We are working accordingly. The party functions on the basis of policy, procedure and principles,” Rai said.

His remarks come amid growing speculation over a possible change in the leadership of the Koshi provincial government.

According to reports, efforts are underway within the UML to replace Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki. The reports also suggest that senior UML leader Til Kumar Menyangbo of Taplejung is being considered as a possible successor.

Neither the UML leadership nor Chief Minister Karki has officially announced any decision regarding a change in the chief ministership.
