COVID-19 in Nepal: 525 diagnosed positive, 109 discharged in past 24 hours

National tally reaches 24,957



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population on Thursday stated that 525 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the new cases have taken the national count to 24,957.

According to the Ministry of Health, 111 from Kathmandu, 11 from Lalitpur, five from Bhaktapur, 22 from Dhanusha, two from Jhapa, 39 from Parsa, 20 from Sunsari, one from Udayapur, 88 from Morang, four from Ilam, 20 from Mahottari, 25 from Rautahat, two from Siraha, 31 from Saptari, one from Bara one from Nuwakot and 26 people from Sarlahi have contracted the coronavirus.

Similarly, 11 from Chitwan, 28 from Makwanpur, two from Sindhuli, eight from Kavre, three from Ramechhap, one from Dolakha, one from Surkhet, 21 from Kapilvastu, three from Kaski, four from Nawalparasi, one from Tanahun, three from Pyuthan, 12 from Rupandehi, two from Dang, 10 from Banke and three from Bardiya and one person from Baitadi and one person from Doti have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

A total of 9,559 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method, he shared.

Meanwhile, as many as 16,837 have recovered across the country so far after 109 discharged from hospitals and isolation centers in the last 24 hours, he shared. The recovery rate now stands at 67.5 percent.

At present, 8,025 people are in isolation and 14,769 are in various quarantine facilities.

Nepal has reported four new deaths. With this, the death toll has reached 95, he said.
