NC demands dialogue with both India and China on Lipu Lekh issue

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded the government bring back encroached Nepali lands including Kalapani, Limiyadhura and Lipu Lekh through a high-level diplomatic process.

Issuing a statement, Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has urged to resolve the issue through diplomatic channels holding dialogues with both India and China.

“Nepal’s first priority should be a “long-term solution based on clear ideas and historical facts” with both the neighboring countries. Issuing a general statement or general note does not fulfill the obligation of the government of Nepal,” reads the statement, “Therefore, the party once again urges the government to take clear high-level diplomatic initiatives for a long-term solution.”

The statement adds that road construction by encroaching on Nepali land is a direct interference in Nepal’s independence which the party says is unacceptable.
