KAPILBAVTU: After the increase in the number of COVID-19 patients, Kapilvastu district is set to be sealed until May 18.
A meeting led by Chief District Officer Dirga Narayan Poudel decided to seal the district effective from 5 pm on Monday until May 18 midnight.
“We have decided to seal off the entire district to prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” CDO Poudel told Khabarhub, “The general public has also been told not to leave the house.”
CDO Poudel informed that only vehicles carrying medicines, food grains, vegetables and fruits, fodder, ambulances and hearse will be allowed to run.
He said that action would be taken against those found driving other types of vehicles.
Similarly, if the public has to go out of the house for urgent work, they can call the nearest police station or the police hotline number (100) to get permission.
Poudel informed that action would be taken against the general public if they came out without permission.
On Monday, the district reported 10 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally to 15.
10 persons from Kapilvastu, Yasodhara rural municipality-5 and Buddha Bhumi rural municipality-7 have been found infected with the coronavirus. All of them are men.
Nine among those infected are aged 18, 19, 20, 20, 24, 30, 31, 34, 34, while the age of the remaining one is to be established.
Their swabs had been tested at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku.
Among the infected, two are from the Buddhabhumi municipality and eight are from the Yashodhara rural municipality-5.
It is learnt that they had returned home covertly from Mumbai of India, recently.
Eight youths who had arrived home on May 2 amidst the lockdown stayed in quarantine at the Aniruddha Public Secondary School.
It is said that some 1,900 Nepalis have been stranded along Nepal-India border in the district.
