KATHMANDU: A total of 1,454 people have been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated.
Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 51,919 with the new cases, said Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, at a regular COVID-19 Update on Friday afternoon.
He added that 10,701 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.
Currently, 14,925 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 8,291 are in institutional isolation and 6,634 in home isolation.
A total 6,078 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.
Meanwhile, 972 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.
So far, 36,672 people have been discharged across the country after recovery. The recovery rate stands at 71 percent.
According to the Ministry, five people lost their lives from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll stands at 322.
According to the Ministry, four men and one woman died of the coronavirus.
A 40-year-old woman in Morang, men aged 65 years in Mahottari, 45 years in Dhanusha, 70 years in Kathmandu and 55 years in Nawalparasi succumbed to the pandemic.
Nepal had recorded five COVID-19 deaths on Thursday.
Meanwhile, as many as 696 persons have been infected from COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 620 persons in Kathmandu, 38 persons in Bhaktapur and 38 persons in Lalitpur have been tested positive for the pandemic virus.
The cases have come gone up in the Valley at the time when the prohibitory order issued in Kathmandu Valley to control the spread of the coronavirus has been eased, allowing operation of public and private vehicles on the odd-even system.
According to the new prohibitory order, vehicles have been allowed to operate on the odd-even rationing system, shops, private offices, industries and factories and hotels and restaurants have been permitted to operate by adopting health safety protocols.
But, cinema halls, health clubs and other places of entertainment will not be allowed to operate.
Even if the prohibitory order has been relaxed, gatherings, processions, participation in festivals, activities other than daily worship in temples and shrines, educational institutions, seminars, theaters, salons, beauty parlors, spas, libraries and zoos have been closed.
Similarly, the coronavirus has been confirmed in 102 in Rupandehi, 74 in Chitwan, 67 in Kailali, 47 in Morang, 44 in Sunsari, 35 in Nawalparasi, 35 in Kapilvastu, 26 in Surkhet, 20 in Gulmi, 18 in Banke, 14 in Jhapa, 13 in Pyuthan, 12 each in Palpa, Siraha, Sankhuwasabha and Rukum East.
Likewise, 11 each in Kaski and Kavrepalanchok, seven in Sarlahi, six each in Doti, Gorkha and Rautahat, five in Dang, four each in Syangja and Saptari, three each in Rolpa and Parsa and two each in Kanchanpur, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Bara, Mahottari and Dhanusha, Jumla and one each in Bardiya and Dhading have been diagnosed positive.
