SINDHULI: Citing the Chinese media’s tweet claiming the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest lies in China, youths in Sindhuli district have burnt the effigy of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The China Global Television Network (CGTN), had a couple of days back, tweeted claiming Chomulongma, the highest peak of the world, belongs to China.

A group of youth led by Dr. Keshav Poudel protested the tweet by burning the effigy of Chinese President in Bhiman, Sindhuli.

The youths held the flag of Nepal high and protested against Chinese imperialism. The agitating youths chanted slogans for Nepal while burning the effigy of President Xi.

CGTN’s tweet has been severely disliked and criticized in Nepal’s social media as well.

The media, however, has removed the tweet following wide criticism in Nepal.
