All-party meeting called by PM Oli concludes

KATHMANDU: An all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister KP Oli has ended at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Prime Minister Oli had called for an all-party meeting to discuss various issues, including the growing protests by pro-monarchy forces across the country, according to Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa.

Today’s meeting was called as a continuation to the practice of holding an all-party meeting in case of any odd situation in the country, or in a situation when the government thinks of seeking consensus of all political parties on serious issues.

Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, argued that the increase in the movement of monarchists across the country was not the fault of the system but the working style of the government.

The decisions taken by the all-party meeting are often meant to ensure national unity on issues of national concerns.

This is the first of such meeting hosted by the Prime Minister in the past seven months.

Earlier in May, PM Oli had consulted major political parties before issuing the country’s new political map.
