KATHMANDU: A total of nine more COVID-19 patients, including five in Kathmandu Valley, died in the last 24 hours.
Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated that the death toll from the pandemic has reached 563 with the new fatalities as of Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the deceased are five males and four females.
A 31-year-old man from Tehrathum, 64 years in Sunsari, 61 and 77 years in Lalitpur and 70 years in Chitwan died of the coronavirus.
Likewise, two women aged 59 and 60 years in Kathmandu, a 67-year-old woman in Lalitpur and a woman aged 77 years in Nawalparasi East succumbed to the pandemic.
Nepal had recorded a record-high 19 coronavirus related deaths on Sunday.
A total of 1,551 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across the nation in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total number of coronavirus infections has reached 90,814.
In a regular press briefing today at the Ministry of Health and Population, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the new number of coronavirus cases was confirmed in 11,047 PCR tests carried out in the last 24 hours.
A total of 1,099,276 PCR tests have been carried out so far.
On the occasion, it was shared that a total of 2,340 people returned home after recovery from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of people discharged after recovery has reached 67,542. The recovery percentage as of today is 74.3 percent.
The Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,017 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.
Nepal currently has 22,709 active cases.
Spokesperson Dr. Gautam added that a total of 13,591 people are in home isolation, 9,118 people in institutional isolation and 4,221 in quarantine facilities.
