UK planning to release over 4,000 jailbirds

LONDON: As one of the preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK government is planning to release more than 4000 prisoners temporarily.

The government has made the plan to release the inmates of the coronavirus vulnerable centers. These jailbirds released temporarily will be outside the jail for about two months. According to the sources, the process will start soon.

Only the people convicted in charges other than violence and sexual abuse will be released under the scheme.

The spokesperson at the Secretary of State for Justice affirmed the news about the government plan to release more than 4,000 jailbirds.
