35,900 Nepalis abroad recover from coronavirus, 266 die



KATHMANDU: As many as 35,916 persons have recovered from COVID-19 living in 42 different countries, the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has said.

According to the Health Committee under the Non-Resident Nepali Association, as many as 39,528 Nepali have been infected with coronavirus abroad until last evening.

Health Committee Convenor Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota informed that a Nepali living in South Africa has died this week.

According to the committee, 266 Nepalis from 18 countries have died abroad due to coronavirus infection.

Nepalis living in Spain, India, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have been infected with the pandemic virus.

Similarly, 84,570 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Nepal alone. Of them, 62,740 have recovered from COVID-19.

The recovery rate stands at 74.2 percent of the total infected. So far, 528 people have died in Nepal.

The Health Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association has stated that the risk of coronavirus infection in public places is high.

Committee Coordinator Sapkota has urged everyone to use mask and wash hands as there is no other option but to follow health standards as the only way to avoid coronavirus infection.
