KATHMANDU: The world’s highest mountain is witnessing an unprecedented traffic jam nowadays due to which climbers are dying.
As per the Gyanendra Shrestha, a liaison officer at the Everest base camp, climbers reaching above Camp IV complain of waiting more than two hours in queues on their way to the summit point.
Everyone seems to be in a hurry to reach the summit point as weather is unpredictable there. The Department of Tourism, the Government of Nepal, needs to be careful before issuing a record number of climbing permits to the mountaineers during the spring season without managing the affairs at various camps on Mount Everest.
Two mountaineers have been reported to have died on Mount Everest due to unprecedented ‘traffic jam’ on May 22, stuck in a queue on way to the summit of the world’s highest mountain.
