Minister Thapa instructs to arrange adequate security for upcoming festivals



KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has instructed the home administration to put in place necessary and adequate security measures in view of upcoming festivals–Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath.

In a meeting summoned by him at his office, Minister Thapa discussed with the head of the security bodies and home administration on security plans for the festivals.

He directed the bodies concerned to ensure peaceful and fearless environment during the festivals. Stating that cases of theft, robbery and black marketeering were rampant during the festivals, Minister Thapa asked the security bodies to bring security strategies accordingly.

The Home Minister also asked the concerned officials to monitor the market and keep eye on the arbitrary charging of fairs.

Present in the meeting were Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Prem Kumar Rai, Nepal Police’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sarbendra Khanal, Armed Police Force’s IGP Shailendra Khanal, National Investigation Bureau Chief Ganesh Adhikari and Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur among others.
