Indian External Minister Jaishankar to visit Bhandari at 10:30 am



KATHMANDU: Visiting External Affairs Minister of India S Jaishankar  is paying a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at 10:30 am at Shital Niwas today.

According to Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the meeting will focus on the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Jaishankar, who arrived in Kathmandu Wednesday afternoon, visited Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at 2 pm prior to the Nepal-India Joint Commission Meeting that started at Hotel Yak and Yeti at 3 pm yesterday.

The two-day meeting discussed and reviewed the overall state of Nepal-India relations as well as other areas of cooperation including trade and transit, connectivity and economic partnership, water resources, education, culture, and other issues of mutual interest.

Established in 1987, the Nepal-India Joint Commission holds its meetings alternately in Nepal and India. The previous meeting was held in New Delhi on October 2016.

Jaishankar arrived in Kathmandu for the first time after being appointed as India’s Minister for External Affairs under the Narendra Modi-led government.

Jaishankar is scheduled to return to New Delhi at 3:35 pm on Thursday.
