Minister Khatiwada claims effectiveness in revenue system

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday passed a proposal seeking the consideration over the ‘Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control- First Amendment) Bill-2075 BS’.

The proposal presented by Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada on behalf of Prime Minister KP Oli was endorsed by today’s session of the HoR.

Lawmakers Prem Suwal, Bharat Kumar Shah, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Dibyamani Rajbhandari, Uma Regmi, Rajendra Kumar KC, Pramod Shah, and Pushpa Bhusal took part in the discussions on the bill.

Responding to lawmakers’ queries, Finance Minister Khatiwada informed that the revenue office was brought under the subordination of Prime Minister’s office to enhance good governance, good conducts, and transparency in revenue administration.

He added that the decision has proved to be effective. Saying that tax avoidance would not be acceptable under any circumstances, Finance Minister Khatiwada vowed to make the audit and accounting system more effective.
