RJPN calls for making public Lal commission report

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) have reiterated their call to the government to release the report prepared by Girish Chandra Lal-led commission at the earliest.

The government has formed a commission led by Supreme Court former judge Girish Chandra Lal to investigate into the incidents that took place during the Madhesh movement in 2015.

Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, RJPN lawmaker Pramod Saha also asked the government to implement the provision in the constitution while distributing citizenship to the citizens without any hindrances.

Likewise, Nepali Congress lawmaker Pushpa Bhusal asked the government to bring the proposed Media Council Bill in line with the principles and values of the constitution.

Bhusal said the Bill in its current form would not be acceptable to the Nepali Congress party saying that the proposed Bill would curtail the freedom of the press and expression.
