Poverty rate to drop by three percent: Minister Baskota

KAVREPALANCHOWK: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota has claimed that the country’s poverty rate would be dropped to 15 percent from the existing 18 in the next five years.

“The government will bring down the poverty rate to 15 percent in the next five years,” Minister Baskota said on Friday.

According to him, this would be possible by linking the workforce with production.

He also announced plans to modernize agriculture in a speedy way to reduce the country’s trade deficit.

Addressing a seminar in Kavrepalanchowk, Minister Baskota stressed the need to link labor with production through education.

The government, he said, is in the phase of policy-making. “It can take some time to implement policies and everything will be in order gradually,” he added.
