Border dispute resolution through diplomatic means: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has told the Supreme Court (SC) that the border dispute with India will be settled through diplomatic channels.

The prime minister was responding to a calcification sought by the apex court on a writ filed demanding an order to the government to seek the solution to the border dispute through a diplomatic route.

The prime minister and the government among others were named defendants in the writ.

In the clarification, the prime minister said that the dispute is being settled through diplomatic efforts and it was unnecessary for the issue to enter the court.

PM Oli, in the 10-point written clarification, affirmed that Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limiyadhura belong to Nepal and Nepal won’t accept India’s unilateral decision.

Advocate Kanchan Krishna Neupane had moved the apex court naming the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defense among others as defendants.

The writ had demanded a mandamus order to the government for regaining lands encroached by India in Sutsa, Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limiyadhura.
