45 infected with dengue in Far Western State



BHIMDUTTANAGAR: As the cases of dengue is reported from various places of the country, 45 people in the Far Western State have been reported to have diagnosed with this vial fever since its outbreak this summer.

According to the Far Western State Health Directorate, dengue patients were found in eight districts of the State except for Bajura.

Directorate’s Pest Control Inspector Hemraj Joshi informed that among them, Kailali district had the highest number of dengue patients at 20.

The Federal Government has allocated a budget for 15 local units in the Far Western Province this fiscal year for mosquito larvae destruction drive to prevent the spread of dengue.

“Local units have been provided Rs 100,000 to Rs 200,000 to destroy larvae,” informed Joshi.

The other local units here also actively running awareness drive on this mosquito-borne infection after dengue was detected in mountainous districts of the State.

Dengue is spread from the bite of Aedes mosquito. It is curable if the patient gets timely treatment, informed Joshi, warning that lack of timely treatment could be fatal too.

Symptoms of dengue infection include high fever, rash, muscle and joint pain among others. Joshi assured that there was no shortage of medicine and dengue testing kits in the State.
