Ashmita Karki arrested over Shalikram Pudasaini’s alleged suicide

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Ashmita Karki of Okhaldhunga over an alleged suicide by journalist Shalikram Pudasaini.

A police team from District Police Office Chitwan arrested her on Thursday from Kathmandu. The arrest comes on the heels of a video of an alleged suicide made public by a news media.

In the video that was purportedly shot by the journalist before killing himself, he has named Karki as one of the people who led to suicide.

SP Daan Bahadur Malla at District Police Office, Chitwan stated that Karki was arrested for an investigation into the case.

“We have brought her to Chitwan. Other persons named in the video are under our scanner. We will arrest them if necessary,” he told Khabarhub.

Journalist Pudasaini had named Karki, journalists Ravi Lamichhane and Yuvraj Kandel as the persons leading him to commit suicide.

Journalist Pudasaini, associated with Mountain Television, was found dead in a local hotel in Chitwan district on August 5.
