CIAA Commissioner Pathak resigns amid pressure

Commissioner at the Commission for the Investment of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Raj Narayan Pathak, has resigned on Friday.

He has submitted his resignation to the President. Pathak has been allegedly involved in taking a bribe of Rs 75 lakh from the Nepal Engineering College assuring the college management of settling a land dispute.

Pathak stepped down following pressure from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), which had on Thursday warned of registering an impeachment motion against him if he did not tender his resignation by today.

A video was publicized where Pathak was taking bribe from Lambodhar Neupane, chairperson of the College Management Committee, some five months ago.
