PHILADELPHIA: A gunman, who opened fire on six police officials in the US city of Philadelphia, has surrendered to the police.

A gun battle broke out between a male shooter and police at about 16:30 local time when the officers were serving a drugs warrant at a home based in Philadelphia’s Nicetown-Tiago neighborhood.

A seven-hour stand-off ensued as police urged the gunman to surrender. The suspect is 36-year-old Maurice Hill, as named my US media.
