Sajha Bus begins night service in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: Sajha Yatayat, with an aim to facilitate night shift workers and passengers, has piloted the night bus service in the major roads within the Kathmandu Valley from last week since 9 pm.

The Cooperative has begun operating the transport service along three routes: Lagankhel to Kalanki via Tripuershwor, New Road to Naya Bus Park via Narayan Gopalchowk, Tribhuvan International Airport to New Bus Park, according to Cooperative’s Manager Mahendra Raj Pandey.

All those buses that provide night service will converge in New Road after plying their respective routes, shared Pandey.

According to him, the number of passengers availing night bus service was limited currently. He reasoned the lack of awareness about the latest service of Sajha was one of the reasons why a very negligible number of people were availing the service.

He expressed his confidence that more and more passengers would learn about the night service launched by Sajha Yatayat and be benefited with the service.

There are altogether Cooperative’s 71 buses regularly plying various roads in and outside of Kathmandu Valley, both in a short and long route. Most of them provide service from early morning to late evening. Four among them are ‘low floor bus’, the model which is aimed at providing easy service for the elderly citizens and people with disability.

The Sajha Yatayat has recently added 20 new Euro 4 standard passenger buses to its fleet.
