Monsoon winds continue to affect Nepal’s weather



KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently influencing weather conditions across Nepal, with the monsoon trough positioned near its average location, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The Division said the weather is generally cloudy across the country, with light to moderate rainfall occurring in some areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, a few places in Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and one or two places in Madhes Province.

According to the Division, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some mountainous areas.

Similarly, moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is expected at many places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at some places in the hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely at some places in the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few places in the Terai areas of Koshi Province, including Madhes Province. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Meanwhile, the Division has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country tonight. Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Similarly, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected at some places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely at some places in the Terai areas of Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in the Terai areas of Sudurpaschim Province. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has urged people to take necessary precautions as heavy rainfall could trigger disasters such as flash floods, floods, landslides and soil erosion.

It also warned that rainfall could affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road transportation and air services in the affected areas, and urged all concerned to remain updated with the latest weather information.
