Nepal Army Chief Thapa makes property details public



KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa has made public details of his personal property.

According to his property details made public through the Nepal Army website on Tuesday, the army chief has eight aanas plots of land at Lainchaur in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 in his name. The land was transferred to him by his mother.

Likewise, he has 12 ropanis of land in Besishahar municipality-4 in Lamjung in his name, which he got from division of ancestral property among family members.

He has two aanas of land in KMC-26 in the name of his spouse Dipa. The land was transferred to Dipa from her maternal side. He has acquired four ropanis and 11 aanas of land in KMC-5 and 12 kattha six dhurs of land at Kolhuwa-5 in Nawalparasi in the name of the couple. Likewise, he has got one ropani of land in Besishahar in Lamjung district in the name of his daughter, Ruru.

Similarly, he has Rs 1.6 million and USD 5,900 in his accounts of Nepal Investment Bank, Rs 42,000 in Global IME Bank, and Rs 50,000 in accounts of his spouse in Mega Bank.

He has 24,000 promoter shares of Mega Bank and 9,000 ordinary shares, 70,000 shares of DCBL Bank and Global Bank and 10,000 shares of Shiva Shree Hydropower. He borrowed Rs 1.8 million loans from Global IME Bank, Rs 500,000 from the Army Welfare Fund, Rs 9.8 million from NMB Bank and over Rs 3 million from Laxmi Bank at different dates. He has a Ford Figo car.
