SC refuses to release Biplav outfit’s leader Oli, annuls petition



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to release Hemanta Prakash Oli, an influential leader of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav.

Hearing a habeas corpus petition on Wednesday, the apex court denied to release him and annulled the petition.

Chand’s daughter had filed a habeas corpus petition claiming that the arrest was illegal.

Earlier on March 28, a single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana had ordered the government to present Oli and other arrested leaders of the party before the court.
